W 1428 roku Husyci zn\u00f3w zaatakowali zamek podpalili go z kilku stron jednocze\u015bnie. P\u0142omienie buchn\u0119\u0142y zewsz\u0105d. Mi\u0119dzylesie – a little-known town in Poland, although it is located on an important trade route from south to north. In the past, the amber trail ran here. At the turn of the 1st and 2nd centuries, Roman merchants went this way to Pomerania for the precious amber. Today Mi\u0119dzylesie is famous for its trade. There is a Biedronka store here, very often visited by our southern Czech neighbors. They buy all kinds of goods here in large quantities. Besides, you only need to pass through Mi\u0119dzylesie, and it’s worth stopping and looking here and there, for example, at the castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Probably to defend the route against robbers in the 8th century, small towns appeared here, and this is how Mi\u0119dzylesie was probably created. It may have been an outskirts of a fortified city. The oldest written records date back to the 9th century. There is a document that proves that the Czech king Wenceslaus II gave Mi\u0119dzylesie to the Cistercian monastery from Kamieniec Z\u0105bkowicki. The Cistercians then sold the town in 1315\/16. They were bought by the knightly family of von Glaubitz in Slavonic Grubosz. During the reign of the von Glaubitz family, there were already mentions of functioning benches for meat, bread and fish, a beer tavern and a well-developing trade. Probably then, in the middle of the 14th century, a brick castle was built in the center of the town. The castle was a support and a starting point for the prince of G\u0142og\u00f3w, who from here attacked Czech Litice and Potsztejn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is where we see the beautiful princess Agnes, who was burned in the tower locked by her husband. First things first. Wolfhard von Glaubitz was a fierce opponent. The fights with heretics lasted constantly and even moved from the Czech Republic to border towns, also to Mi\u0119dzylesie. The Hussites attacked the city, and Wolfhard often took part in raids on Czech towns where the Hussites were stationed. During her husband’s expeditions, Agnes took advantage of her youth and beauty. She probably had many admirers and probably also lovers. The kind courtiers kindly reported to their master what was happening while he was fighting the Hussites, and the furious Wolfhrd punished his wife by locking her in the tower of his castle. In 1428, the Hussites attacked the castle again and set it on fire from several sides at the same time. Flames burst from everywhere. Wolfhrd took the children and escaped through underground passages carved beneath the castle. (I wonder if the corridors are still there today) The castle burnt down, only the scorched tower remained, henceforth called the black tower. The husband returned to the castle to look for his wife’s remains and bury her with dignity, but he found nothing. Not a trace. It is said that Agnes still lives here and appears in the castle, and the guests who live in the rooms of the castle make their hair stand on end. This is not the end of the turbulent history of the castle. In the following years, the Mi\u0119dzylesie estate passed from hand to hand. Today, the castle houses hotel rooms and a restaurant. You can spend a nice time here, but you have to be careful not to get in the way of beautiful Agnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
