W 1282 do Nowego nad Wis\u0142a przybyli franciszkanie, a dwa lata p\u00f3\u017aniej otrzymali od ksi\u0119cia Mszczuja II dzia\u0142k\u0119 na kt\u00f3rej postawili pierwszy ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142 \u2013 zapewne drewniany. Obecny budynek zbudowano w pierwszej po\u0142owie XIV wieku. Prawdopodobnie najpierw wybudowano krypt\u0119 we 1311 roku i jest to najstarsza cz\u0119\u015b\u0107 ko\u015bcio\u0142a zachowana do dzisiaj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ka\u017cdy d\u017awi\u0119k odbija si\u0119 echem po \u015bcianach kr\u0105\u017cy pod sklepieniem i znika po chwili jak by czmychn\u0105\u0142 przez szpar\u0119 pod drzwiami. Nie ma ju\u017c wspania\u0142ych stalli w prezbiterium, organ\u00f3w, o\u0142tarzy bocznych, obraz\u00f3w, p\u0142yt nagrobnych upami\u0119tniaj\u0105cych znakomite osobisto\u015bci pochowane pod pod\u0142og\u0105 ko\u015bcio\u0142a. Jest cicho i zimno. Wiosenne s\u0142o\u0144ce bije w okna, pod\u015bwietla witra\u017ce  ale nie ogrzewa. Grube mury broni\u0105 si\u0119 przed ciep\u0142em. W pod\u0142odze prezbiterium jest w\u0142az. Ci\u0119\u017cka, metalowa klapa zosta\u0142a otwarta. Strome schody prowadz\u0105 do najstarszej cz\u0119\u015bci \u015bwi\u0105tyni. Krypta powsta\u0142a najprawdopodobniej w 1311 roku. Jest pusto. Pachnie odleg\u0142ymi wiekami. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nie ma wilgoci. Przez ma\u0142e okienka wpada \u015bwiat\u0142o nadaj\u0105c klimatu tajemniczo\u015bci. Nic tu nie ma tylko mury, sklepienie palmowe, kamienna kolumna na \u015brodku i zamurowane przej\u015bcie do cel klasztornych. Jeszcze w 1893 w tym miejscu jednana drugiej sta\u0142y trumny. Niekt\u00f3re otwarte. Oko\u0142o dziewi\u0119\u0107dziesi\u0105t os\u00f3b spocz\u0119\u0142o w krypcie. Dzi\u0119ki dobrej wentylacji i sucho\u015bci zw\u0142oki zachowa\u0142y si\u0119 w bardzo dobrym stanie. Z trumien wystawa\u0142y ubiory i jedwabne sukna. W okolicy m\u00f3wi\u0142o si\u0119 o mumiach z Nowego. Po\u017car z 1899 roku strawi\u0142 ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142, krypt\u0119 i klasztor. Wojny \u015bwiatowe i czasy komunizmu dope\u0142ni\u0142y dzie\u0142a. Mimo wszystko ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142 istnieje, trwa na skarpie w Nowem i kryje swe tajemnice w podziemiach, zasypanych piwnicach i tajemnym przej\u015bciu jakie wykonano w roku 1620. Gdzie jest nie wiadomo. Co kryje? Histori\u0119 \u2013 najwi\u0119kszy skarb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1282, the Franciscans came to Nowe nad Wis\u0142a, and two years later they received a plot of land from Prince Mszczuj II on which they built the first church – probably a wooden one. The present building was built in the first half of the 14th century. The crypt was probably first built in 1311 and it is the oldest part of the church that has survived to this day. It was not until 1350 that the nave was built. During the wars with the Teutonic Knights, the church was damaged to such an extent that even Pope Martin V established an indulgence for the reconstruction of the new temple. Today, they were not gentle with Nowe and its monuments. If not the Teutonic Knights, then the Swedes, if not the Germans, the Russians plundered, burned and destroyed. At the very end, our compatriots-communists made a contribution to the work of destruction. But fate would have it that the temple exists and can be seen again, stripped of its former splendor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The empty and cold hall of the church of St. Maksymilian Kolbe in Nowe on the Vistula overwhelms the faithful. Each sound echoes on the walls, circulates under the vault, and disappears after a while as if it slipped through the crack under the door. There are no more magnificent stalls in the presbytery, organs, side altars, paintings, and tombstones commemorating outstanding personalities buried under the church floor. It is quiet and cold. The spring sun beats the windows, it illuminates the stained glass windows, but it does not heat up. Thick walls defend themselves against heat. They create a mysterious microclimate, protect the mysterious history and turbulent history of the church and the adjacent monastery of Minorites, and later Bernardines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a hatch in the floor of the presbytery. A heavy metal hatch opened. Steep stairs lead to the oldest part of the temple. The crypt was most probably built in 1311. It’s empty. It smells like distant ages. There is no moisture. Light shines in through small windows, giving it an atmosphere of mystery. There is nothing here but walls, a palm tree vault, a stone column in the middle and a bricked up passage to the monastery cells. Even in 1893, there were two coffins in this place. Some open. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About ninety people were buried in the crypt. Due to good ventilation and dryness, the corpse was preserved in very good condition. Clothes and silk cloths protruded from the coffins. There was talk of the mummies from Nowe in the neighborhood. A fire in 1899 consumed the church, the crypt and the monastery. World wars and the communist era completed the works. Nevertheless, the church exists, it remains on the escarpment in Nowe and hides its secrets in the basement, buried cellars and a secret passage that was made in 1620. We do not know where. What’s hiding? History – the greatest treasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
