Jest to rezerwat przyrody, który podlega ochronie częściowej. Znajduje się na terenie leśnictwa Starczanowo, w gminie Murowana Goślina, woj. Wielkopolskie. Powstał w roku 1975 za sprawą licznego występowania na tym terenie śnieżycy wiosennej (Leucojum vernum), bardzo rzadkiej w Wielkopolsce, a także na niżu polskim. Skąd wzięła się śnieżyca na tym terenie nie wiadomo.
Podejrzewa się, że została zasadzona w tym miejscu ręką ludzką w połowie XIX wieku i znalazła dla siebie tutaj odpowiednie warunki. Obecnie rezerwat obejmuje ponad 9 hektarów.
