Księżyc w pełni, żaby kumkają w stawie pałacowego parku pohukuje puszczyk. Goście śpią w swoich pokojach. Już w XII wieku ród rycerski Łodziów władał tymi terenami i pewnie gdzieś w okolicy stał ich dwór lub zamek. Pierwszymi znanymi właścicielami Będlewa byli w 1343 r. synowie Sędziwoja z Łodzi: Jan, biskup poznański i Mikołaj. Potomkowie Łodziów to Będlewescy i jak sądzę stąd nazwa miejscowości. W XV wieku Będlewscy zbudowali dwór, są na ten temat zapiski w satyrach księgach pochodzące z roku 1434. W czasach późniejszych dwór i dobra wokół niego przechodziły z rąk do rąk. Zainteresowanych odsyłamy do fachowej literatury. Nas interesują Potoccy którzy dnia 3 grudnia 1782 r. przejęli Wronczyn i Będlewo, a dokładnie Stanisław Kostka Potocki. Tak zaczyna się panowanie Potockich i ciekawa historia z zabójstwem w tle.
Pani ubrana w czarną, koronkową suknię wchodzi po schodach. Twarz zakrywa jej woalka. Sunie korytarzami, przystaje przed zamkniętymi drzwiami komnat pałacowych jak by nasłuchiwała, jakby szukała kogoś. Znikła, aż włos się zjeżył. Podobno to duch pięknej Felicji błąka się nocami po pałacu. Felicja i Alfred Miaczyński mieli romans, a zdradzony maż Maciej Milżyniski zastrzeli ich we dworze w Dakowach Mokrych. Ciekawostką jest to, że za swój czyn nie poniósł kary. Sąd uniewinnił sprawcę, gdyż wystąpił w obronie honoru swojej rodziny!
Wróćmy do Potockich. Za ich panowania dobra prosperują i rozwijają się. Potocki był założycielem banku Kwilecki Potocki i Spółka. Przekazał spółce Teatr Polski plac i ogród pod budowę teatru w Poznaniu. Przebudował dwór. Było tam nawet centralne ogrzewanie.
Dziś pałac prosperuje. Możemy zaraz od wejścia podziwiać piękne schody w holu i drewnianą balustradę z herbem Potockich – Pilawa. Drewniana boazeria na suficie robi ogromne wrażenie. Sala rycerska z równie godnymi zdobieniami. Kiedyś były tam polichromie z podobiznami królów polskich. Zniszczyli je Niemcy. Te, które widzimy są odtworzone współcześnie – co widać. Parter to komnaty w amfiladzie. Obecnie są to pokoje restauracji, ale zachowane w dobrym stylu z epoki. Na piętrze pokoje i ciekawe kręcone schody, jak sądzę współczesne, co nie zmienia faktu, że bardzo piękne. Park ma 9 hektarów powierceni i jest gdzie spacerować w ciszy i w zieleni.
Pałac jest dziś własnością Instytutu Matematycznego PAN. Odbywają się tu konferencje, spotkania, goszczą tu znamienici matematycy, ale nie tylko. Bywają politycy i artyści. Baza hotelowa może pomieścić 150 osób. Jednym słowem warto odwiedzić to miejsce, przenocować w pałacu, a może spotkać w księżycową noc czarną damę?

The Black Lady from Będlewo.
The full moon, frogs croak in the pond of the palace park, the tawny owl hoots. The guests sleep in their own rooms. Already in the 12th century, the knightly family of Łódź ruled this area and their manor house or castle probably stood nearby. The first known owners of Bedlewo in 1343 were the sons of Sedziwoj from Łódź: Jan, the bishop of Poznań and Mikołaj. The descendants of Łódź are Będleweski and, I think, hence the name of the town. In the fifteenth century, the Będlewskis built a manor, there are notes on this subject in satire books from 1434. In later times, the manor and the goods around it passed from hand to hand. If you are interested, please refer to professional literature. We are interested in the Potocki family, who took over Wronczyn and Będlewo on December 3, 1782, namely Stanisław Kostka Potocki. This is how the reign of the Potocki family begins and an interesting story with a murder in the background.
A lady dressed in a black, lacy dress walks up the steps. A veil covers her face. She glides through the corridors, pauses in front of the closed doors of the palace chambers as if listening, as if looking for someone. She was gone until the hair bristled. It is said that the spirit of the beautiful Felicja wanders around the palace at night. Felicja and Alfred Miaczyński had an affair, and the betrayed husband Maciej Milżyniski would shoot them at the court in Dakowy Mokre. An interesting fact is that he was not punished for his act. The court acquitted the perpetrator because he defended his family’s honor!
Let’s go back to the Potocki family. During their reign, goods prosper and flourish. Potocki was the founder of the bank Kwilecki Potocki i Spółka. He gave the company Teatr Polski a square and a garden for the construction of a theater in Poznań. He rebuilt the manor. There was even central heating.
Today the palace is prospering. Right from the entrance we can admire the beautiful stairs in the hall and the wooden balustrade with the coat of arms of the Potocki family – Pilawa. The wooden paneling on the ceiling is very impressive. Knight’s hall with equally worthy decorations. There used to be wall paintings with images of Polish kings. They were destroyed by the Germans. The ones we see are recreated today – as can be seen. The ground floor consists of rooms in the enfilade. These are now restaurant rooms, but preserved in a period style. On the first floor, there are rooms and an interesting spiral staircase, modern, I believe, which does not change the fact that they are very beautiful. The park is 9 hectares of land and it is a place to walk in silence and in greenery.
Today, the palace is owned by the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Conferences and meetings are held here, distinguished mathematicians are hosted here, but not only. There are politicians and artists. The hotel base can accommodate 150 people. In a word, it is worth visiting this place, spending the night in a palace, or maybe meeting a black lady on a moonlit night?
